We lose our sense of fearlessness. That feeling where you don't care how many times you fall off of your bike, as you learn to ride; or how many times you scrape your elbows and knees riding the roller blades that you want to master; or the non-chalant confidence you exude in the choice of
clothing you wear just because you are young, bold, and totally unselfconcious, and why not, you are
Somewhere in between being young and getting old, we grow up! Is it being more responsible, growing up, that makes us less fearless? Now we know that hey, you can break a leg, or really hurt yourself, or realise that your body is not as firm as it used to be. So we grow up!
But does growing up means that we give up on our dreams, our penchant for taking chances? Perhaps it does. Somehow we no longer want to take risks, and we revert to what we think is our safety net, or security blanket. Is it an unwritten rule in our society that makes us that way? Or is it what we learn to do as we grow older?
Remember mom and dad taught us to be fearless, to take chances, even though they bit their lips each time we got on that bike before we learned to control it. Some people do continue to take risks, and to be fearless. Those are the people who have had a lot of success or even a lot of failure in their lives.
There is one key thing between those who succeed and those who fail, they tried! They made the effort to see where their risks would take them!
The key here is, how fearless do you want to be?
