Why do people do and say the stupidest things?

Yesterday morning while watching Good Morning America, they reported that a runway model who recently had a baby, Gisele Bundchen, thinks that all mothers who do not breast feed should be forced to breast feed for at least six months.

"Some people here (in the US) think they don't have to breastfeed, and I think, 'Are you going to give chemical food to your child when they are so little?' I think there should be a worldwide law, in my opinion, that mothers should breastfeed their babies for six months."

Really Gisele? You obviously are speaking from a very ignorant look basically your very first child and you already know it all? You're suddenly gifted with the knowledge of all moms in the world and are able to predict that all moms are doing harmful things to their infants?!

Some mothers do have a hard time breast feeding! They do not choose to unwillingly and deliberately not breast feed their babies. Some women do have a very difficult time with it.  And even those who do begin to breast feed, eventually end up transitioning their child a lot earlier to the bottle!  I think it's very thoughtless of her to make such a statement and she undermines all mothers everywhere!

In her apology Ms. Van Susteren said, "We really don't know what to say..", frankly, neither do I!
