Retrospect

How often do you look back at your life and what you have done so far?  When do you do this, if ever?  Do you think it is wise to do so?  A lot of questions eh?! Sometimes it is good to look back, review, have an overview of what you have done, to look at your present and to see where you're going.  Sometimes it is good to view your life in retrospect because it will help you to move, hopefully, forward!

Sometimes so many of us don't bother to do this though. We continue through life and keep on moving no matter what.  There are times when this is good to do.  But there are times when it is really necessary for you to take stock so you CAN MOVE FORWARD.  Too often so many of us pay 'lip service' to our lives.  This is something we really need to stop doing.   In other words, stop talking the talk and start walking the walk!

I admit there are times I end up doing this very thing, talking the talk.  I get distracted and instead of focusing on the task (or goal) at hand, I see something else that requires my attention and I move on to that issue and never return to the original plan!  What's up with that?! I call it ageism, the older we get, the more we distract ourselves from what is really important!  Yet I know my definition of ageism is incorrect.  Because getting older breeds knowledge, wisdom and the pursuit of a more holistic way of living (in more ways than one)!

You want to explore and enjoy the lifestyle that you have always dreamed of.  You tend to grow closer to your family, friends, seeking a simpler way of being. And if in having your retrospective you see where you cannot, have not, achieved these things.  If you're at a point in your life where you do not want to be, then it is time for you to move forward, leaving the past behind, all the sorrows, the mistakes, the broken dreams.  Let them all go and create the life that you want.  You can do it, it can be done!
