Stereotypes

What is it about people who like to stereotype others?  It doesn't matter who that person is, it is what they see in front of them that they will make a prediction about without even knowing that person!  It is true that you learn how you think and feel about anything from home from a very young age.  You will think and feel the way your parents do about others, for a while when you're very young.  However, as you get older, you will begin to form your own opinions and perhaps may feel differently about others despite what your family may think.

Even in the more progressive and liberated homes, the children can be influence by others, not just their parents.  Children can also be influenced by their peers.  This is why it is so important for parents to be in touch with their children, having conversations and letting them know what your thoughts are on anything that might be of interest to them, or of anything that might be a trending topic in today's media. The one thing we all should be is be tolerant of others and be receptive to anything we are unfamiliar with. It is often said that ignorance is bliss, but no, ignorance leads to being misinformed and making rash judgement not just about people and their differences, culturally or otherwise, but also about life itself.

Sometimes it is unavoidable stereotyping others.  Somehow how we behave is inherent because of our environment.  While that might be a given factor, being open to new experiences will lead to a more rewarding and often interesting life!
