Aids Awareness Day

HIV/AIDS affects not just one person, it affects many.  It affects not just one race, it affects all races because it does not discriminate.  Sometimes, some people are affected in the way they least expect it, such as after a blood transfusion.  This is why our health care agencies, hospitals, etc., do what they do to make sure that people who give and donate blood are healthy.

It is very important that if someone is infected with the HIV virus they not only take care of themselves, but they take care of the people they are closest to.  These days, having the HIV virus isn't an immediate death sentence. With proper care and medication, many lives have been saved.  It is very important for each of us to educate ourselves regarding sexually transmitted diseases and any other diseases in fact!  It is very important that we teach our youths (teens) about health issues that can affect them.

Today, June 8th is the Caribbean American HIV/AIDS Awareness Day.  Educating yourself about HIV and AIDS is the key intent of this recognition.  Too many times misinformation and misrepresentation happens.  To learn more, please follow the links below!
