5 Lessons in Blogging

d-foreverserenity.com

On a recent reading at thedailymuse.com, I learned from Lindsay Mueller that there was an annual blogging event organized by Lucky Magazine for Fashion and Beauty Bloggers, called the Lucky FABB Conference. One of these days I will attend one or two of these events but for now, I like learning all about them via resourceful websites like The Daily Muse!

The conference was recently held in New York, and bloggers who have turned their hobby and passion for blogging into a successful business shared their experiences and gave great tips to the attendees.   If there were five (5) lessons to learn about the blogging business it would be:

1) Offer your readers something that will have them choose your brand and not your competitors this "advice from Macy’s CEO Terry Lundgren was originally meant for brands and retail store owners, the same concept applies to blogging..."
This means finding your niche, your style and sticking to it.  Knowing what makes you stand out from other blogs is key!

2) Ignore negative comments "Leandra Medine of The Man Repeller shared a disturbing story...."
An anonymous comment from a reader was one of the worse Ms. Medine had ever received. While it hurt, she hasn't let that stopped her from doing what she loves!  You see dear readers there will always be people, known or unknown who don't believe in what you do, for one reason or another.  Don't let them stop you from doing what you love, no matter what it is!

3) All the statistics in the world means nothing if you don't have good content behind them! "Raman Kia, the Executive Director of Digital Strategy for Condé Nast Media Group..." shared this tip.

So in short, you can have high numbers, your blog statistics might bring in big numbers but how far, (and for how long), will that take you without great content to keep your readers coming back for more?

4) Lindsay Mueller shared in her article that you should "always be looking for the next thing"

That means staying relevant with your blog content and always keeping yourself busy on new projects. My take from this is to always look out for new things to write about!

and last but not least:

5) "Constantly reinvent yourself", "This advice comes from sage and eternally hip fashion designer Anna Sui,,,..."

Meaning to always keep your content fresh, much like number 4, and keeping yourself inspired to always write new content!  On a personal note, one of the things that I do quite often is jot titles down and save them either on my blog on an unpublished page or in my note book!  Hey, a tip from me!lol!
