Being Still

It is not often that we do this for ourselves.  Being still, as in, standing (or sitting) still, not moving. It is the posture that many who practices the art of Yoga and/or meditation do.  They will often end up sitting still, being quiet, reflective, breathing deeply, listening, engrossed in that moment of time, in stillness.
"The soul always knows what to do to heal itself.  the challenge is to silence the mind." Caroline Myss
How often do you become still? Or can you remember a moment of stillness, no movements, just solitude and you?  We are all so caught up in our world and what is going on around us that we don't know how to be still and listen. Oh yes, listening is a part of it.  You become still, and you listen, to yourself.

Your breathing, your thoughts, finding your inner peace.  It is often the way that you will find answers that you seek.  It is often how you will know that which you are supposed to do.  It is a form of irreverence.

Make it a point my dear readers, to do this for yourself sometime today.  It doesn't matter what time of the day you do it. when you find yourself alone, take a moment. Unplug, literally, from your electronic devices.  Just push them aside and put them on mute if unplugging is too much for you.  Now sit quietly, in a corner, on your favorite chair, your bed, or the floor.  Breathe deeply in and out, quiet your mind as you take each breath, don't worry about anything, not lunch, not picking up the grocery, or starting dinner, or responding to that email.  Take at least 15 minutes for you. Then as you do it more often, add more time.

When you have completed doing this for the first time, if somehow you are able to find peace within, if you are able to resolve any issues that have been bothering you.  I hope you will make time to do this everyday. It will rejuvenate you! This is the time that I personally use to communicate to God, I pray, and I am not perfect because there are times when I don't remember to take this moment for me.  However, somehow the need within always knows when it is time to be still, and I make the time to do it.

I read with interest an article I found today where Oprah shares how she discovers that being still helps her in a very big way.
