"Nobody Puts Baby in a Corner"

Sometimes you have just got to scare the naysayers away!

I keep referring to the quote from one of my favorite movies, Dirty Dancing. You remember the scene; Patrick's character Johnny comes into the room, looking for Jennifer's character, Frances, aka Baby. He sees her in the corner, hidden and squashed by everyone else around her and he goes up to her, stretches out his hands to her and goes, "Nobody puts Baby in a Corner"!  Swoon, sigh...don't you just love that scene?!!!!

I do too dear readers, I do too!  I have found myself placed in a corner quite often over the years.  I used to let it overwhelm me, sometimes because I was too busy with personal stuff, my family, etc., to take notice or to fight it.  Sometimes I just didn't want to be bothered because there just didn't seem to be any point, why fight it?  I know who I am, I know my worth!  Right?  Yes & No! Especially when it will flare its ugly head even this year 2013!

First of all, it is never right when you keep getting pushed down, when some people around you like to flex their "muscles" to remind you of where you are and where you should stay.  They put you  into a box, and if it seems as if you're stepping out of that box, hey, well, listen up lady, you are not so and so, so you can't do so and so! Harrrumphh!

Well, this "Baby", will no longer accept that!  This lady will no longer stay in that square box that has been drawn around her all these years. This lady has waken up and smell the coffee, and is no longer in the corner! I could go on and on and give you reasons why I remained in that box. If you're a regular reader of my blog, and especially my poetry, you know why.  Now that I've gotten back on my feet emotionally, my kids are finding their own feet and flexing their own muscles (thanks to their mom & dad), we have been through the ringer in more ways than one, especially over the last year; I am no longer going to sit aside and let anyone walk all over me!  I will no longer hide from the person that I am. I will not be afraid to be who I want to be. At some point in your life dear readers, you have to own your own destiny, you have to fight for it, and become what you are meant to be!  You have to stop caring about what others are saying and what they think about you! Things will always happen at times, a lot of things might go wrong, but so many things will go right!  Just don't sink into defeat!  So many face adversary everyday of their lives!  So many things are still not the way we might want them to be, just refuse to give up, or give in!

As I wrote in my last article, there will be people coming out of the woodwork trying to shut you down, don't let them.  Go after your dreams, make your life what you want it to be and knock down the walls that have been placed around you!  Be confident in who you are and show the world that you were beautifully and fearlessly made! It is never too late to dream!
