The Mask

Go on LOL at this face!
That face that we put on for sanity's sake. That face that we wear when we hide our true authentic self.  Do you wear one?  I wonder though, is it really because we are not being true to ourselves?  I do wear a mask at times, for the very reason of keeping calm and projecting the confidence I put "out there".   It is sometimes for my own protection because of how society can be.

Have you ever walked by someone and they ignore your greeting?  Or they do something else, and look everywhere else but at you?  This is the time they also choose to fiddle with their electronic devices.  And have you ever been asked "How are you"? by someone, but they don't stay around to hear your response? I've witnessed occasions where the person asking the question is uncomfortable or their eyes glazed over as they listen to someone who chooses to answer their question.

If you don't want to know, why are you asking?  Does it means that person doesn't really care, or are they just being polite?  It is a good to be polite because there are too many ill-mannered people in our society these days.  No one seems to remember how to be courteous.  Sometimes others choose to do the opposite of what you expect.  It is definitely their right to do so, as it is your right to block the negative energy they give.

My advice is to let your intuition guide you when it comes to wearing that mask.  There will be times when the behaviour of others might seem daunting, and you may feel discouraged; or you may not want to be bothered and do nothing.  Howver, when you can, do leave yourself open to the acceptance of that great energy that is "out there", willing to accept and appreciate the authentic you. Don't be put off, or put out by those who choose to live their lives in the way you don't believe.

  1. Everyone wears a mask--the private one and the public one. I don't like phony people but I understand the need to wear the mask at times to be polite---such as work or with in-laws.... LOl!
